Our Pastor

A letter of Welcome from Pastor Dunn:

Thank you for taking the time to visit the website of Grace Community Church. One of the most important decisions you can make is where you will attend church. I would like to invite you to Grace Community Church. I would like to take this opportunity to share what our church believes. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” II Timothy 3:16 . This means that we believe that God through the Holy Spirit so moved in men’s hearts that they wrote exactly what God wanted them to write. We do not have to guess in our own hearts who God is or what God wants from us. He has given us His word so that we can know Him and how He wants us to live. The Bible contains answers to all of life’s problems. It shows us how we can have a right marriage, how we can have skill in living properly, and even how we can have better relationships with other people. The Bible tells us about God, and most importantly how we can have a relationship with that God, which is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6. We believe a person can only be saved when they recognize that they have sinned against a holy God, and they come to faith, believing that Jesus died for their sins on the cross. “For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9.

We also seek as a church to help those who know Christ to grow in their faith. All new Christians begin as baby Christians. They need to be part of a church that is faithfully teaching and preaching the word of God. “As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, the you may grow thereby.” II Peter 2:2. We attempt to preach the word of God in a way that is interesting and easy to understand.

We seek as a church to meet the needs of all age groups. On Sunday, we have children, teen, and adult Sunday school classes that meet at 9:30 AM, worship service at 10:40 Am, nursery for age birth through 3 years old, Junior Church during the sermon, and an evening worship service at 6 PM. On Wednesday nights we have an Outreach for Christ for fourth through sixth grade and a Youth Group for seventh through twelfth grade. We also have a Golden Years Fellowship for Senior Citizens that meet monthly.

If you are looking for a good church that stands by the Bible, or you want to know how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please contact us and let us know how we can assist you.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Pastor Robert Dunn

Testimony

I would like to take this time to share with you about myself so that you can get to know me. I happen to be completely blind. I was born prematurely and received too much oxygen in the incubator. My parents were told when I was two years of age that I would be completely blind by the time I was three. Fortunately for me, though I lost my sight in my right eye, I retained partial sight in my left eye. When I was twenty three years old, six months after I was married, I had a massive hemorrhage in my eye and went completely blind.

For the first eight years of school I went to a school for the blind. Since I had partial sight I had some advantage over those who were completely blind. I was very happy and had a lot of friends. But when 9th grade came, I was sent to a regular high school to teach me to adjust to a sighted world. My life took a change, I went from being Mr. Popular to being teased, had my head pushed into books and had no friends. Needless to say, I did not feel that anyone loved me or even cared about me. I didn’t even realize that Jesus cared about me. Though I went to church every Sunday, I was only taught to know about Jesus, I had never come to the place where I had received him as my personal Savior and Friend.

One day I went home and determined I was never going to go back to school. I thought about taking my life but decided that I was going to run away from home. While I was waiting for my parents to fall asleep I turned on the TV and Billy Graham was preaching on that channel. For the first time in my life I heard the gospel. First he said I was a sinner, Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Then he spoke about Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death.” But then he said something that changed my life forever, though I knew I was a sinner and deserved judgement, Billy Graham said that Christ loved me and had died for me. Romans 5:8,” For God has demonstrated His love for us, for while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” I didn’t think that anyone cared about me, but Christ loved me enough to take the punishment for my sins on the cross. I knelt by the side of the bed and received Christ into my heart as my personal Savior.

When I went back to school the next day I was still teased, but I was not alone. Christ went with me as my Friend. I graduated from High School four years later with perfect attendance. Though I had partial sight I was on the Track Team and Gym Team and made the honor roll all four years. Christ made all the difference in my life. If you are alone and think that none cares about you, Christ does, and He can make all the difference in your life as well if you will trust Him as your Lord and Savior.
